Greenville, South Carolina is one of the fastest growing cities in America. The multitude of rapidly growing and successful big business coupled with a thriving cultural environment has created a city full of vitality and activity. Greenville offers a unique combination of the growing job market and associated youthful population along with traditional southern values, food, and hospitality.

Greenville boasts some of the most beautiful parks in the state with a large number of outdoor activities available. Heritage Park in nearby Simpsonville is a sprawling park with several childrens’ playgrounds, a sports complex, concert venue, and miles of running/leisure bike paths.

The beautiful Reedy River and Park in downtown Greenville is the highlight of the city center. Downtown Greenville is an intersection of business, food, and night life all in a beautiful setting. Families living in or visiting Greenville will find that there are endless activities for children of all ages. The Children’s Museum of the Upstate offers a perfect rainy day activity in a fun educational environment and any local minor league sporting event is sure to provide great family fun.

The Greenville Drive is a Red Sox franchise team and the stadium in downtown Greenville is a tribute replica to Fenway Park, including its very own Green Monster. The stadium offers an environment that allows adults to kick back and enjoy spacious seating (individual not bench or bleacher seating), with areas for kids to run an play all within sight of seating areas. With three young kids, our family loves the opportunity to sit and enjoy America’s pastime while the kids run and play.

The Greenville Swamp Rabbits, an affiliate team for the New York Rangers, play their games at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena. The arena offers a fun and fast paced sporting venue that really makes you feel like you are right on top of the action no matter your seat location. The games are upbeat and fun all while offering very easy, light traffic parking access and exit routes from the arena. There really isn’t any traffic to fight at all on the way in or out, making any game a low stress and exciting family event.

Greenville is also a thriving city for small business owners. The growing population, thriving networking and social scene, and overall prosperity of Upstate South Carolina has fostered a city that truly supports small business growth. Companies like The City Arborist, owned by Brad Hudson, that started as a one man tree care operation in Greenville have grown into thriving companies that provide great services to their communities. There are hundreds of stories like Brad’s that all go to show that Greenville is the place in SC to start and grow a new business.

Greenville is clearly one of the great places in SC and the Southeast US overall to visit or live. It should surely be on your list of places to enjoy in 2017.

Aitutaki, Cook Islands

Posted by on Jul 9, 2017 in Travel and Leisure | Comments Off on Aitutaki, Cook Islands

Aitutaki is one of the best travel destinations in the South Pacific. It is an island with close ties to New Zealand. It has wonderful beaches, lagoons, and some of the kindest locals in the South Pacific area. The largest of the Cook Islands is certainly Rarotonga but Aitutaki is by far the most beautiful of the islands. If you have the cash then the best option for your stay would be to rent an over the water bungalow and enjoy the beauty first hand.

One of the things you’ll notice is the absence of stress in Aitutaki. There are no night clubs or office buildings meaning there’s basically no noise. People don’t even need house keys. It’s an amazing destination to disconnect from all the stress and noise of your regular life and reconnect with yourself and nature. You can take a tour around the island via a scooter. Who knows? You might stumble across something no one has ever encountered before.

Need even more peace and quiet? You can simply windsurf to your own island. It’ll take you an hour of effort but once you’re there you can relax for the rest of the day, and maybe even life if you decide you’re never leaving. Don’t forget to pack some food so you can enjoy a snack or light meal on your island. Another fun activity would be scuba diving although it can be somewhat expensive in Aitutaki. You can enjoy the beautiful water and with clear waters you’ll see plenty of sharks as well.

It can’t really be considered a mountain since it’s only 124 meters high but below it everything else is flat meaning that at the top of Mount Maungapu you’ll have a stunning view of the entire island seeing fields of grass and bodies of water in colors you didn’t even think existed.

Every Thursday the Tamanu Beach Resort hosts a night of traditional dancing and singing which all include fire. Locals love to play with fire. There’s also a buffet of course. That is probably as loud as Aitutaki gets.

No trip to Aitutaki is complete without visiting the Aitutaki Lagoon. As you sail across the lagoon you’ll appreciate all the beauty you never get at home and it gets even better once you reach One Foot Island which is so beautiful you’ll consider staying at forever. Aitutaki is a beautiful and one of the lesser known tropical destinations. It’s a place to unwind and get away from all the noise, perhaps for good.
